If you’re an avid reader of my blog you might know I have recently become a mum for the fourth time. My eldest is eight years old and my latest addition is almost two months old. As soon as I found out I was expecting I wondered about how I’d cope with two children under two at home. They both have such different needs and wants that it will almost be impossible to keep an eye on them at the same time and ensure they’re safe. My husband works long days and so it’s just me and the kids, at home, during the week.
We were recently asked if we would like to try out a really lovely baby monitor; the Panasonic Smart Home Baby Monitoring Camera Kit KX-HN6001EW and it seemed like the perfect solution to my problem – it has basically provided me with an extra set of eyes and ears around and outside the home. I’ve never had a baby monitor where I could see my baby and this would end up in multiple dashes up the stairs whenever I heard the smallest of noises only to find she had just sneezed or shuffled around in her sleep.
Let me explain how it works…
The kit comes with a camera to keep an eye on your little ones and a home hub. It was super easy to set-up; the hub connects to your home wireless network and every aspect of the home monitoring system can be managed from an app on your phone or tablet! With the click of a button or two I can turn on lullabies or speak to Mabel through the monitor.
When it’s bedtime we can use the cameras night vision mode to be able to see a clear, real time, image of Mabel in bed. Knowing she is safe upstairs we can cook our dinner whilst watching her on our phone – so it’s kind of given us a bit of child free time too!
What’s great about the Panasonic Smart Home Network app is that we can access the camera wherever we are. Last week Matt had to stay away with work but I was able to move the camera to different locations so he could still keep up with the kids in the evening and hear all about Florence’s first week back at school.
I’ve also been using the baby monitor during the day as Elsie, our one year old, is starting to want to play in different rooms of the house and so I can keep an eye on her using the monitor but without being invasive and disturbing her role play games.
