We were recently invited along to the opening of the new Mini Play area at our local Brewers Fayre restaurant; Elmbury Lodge in Tewkesbury. With a three year old and a six year old that both require copious amounts of entertainment I jumped at the chance.
Although we arrived a little late, due to my sons pre-booked swimming lesson, the staff made us very welcome and immediately directed us to our reserved table. As a family, we have been to the play area a number of times in it’s previous life and I have to say what we saw upon arrival was a vast improvement. Not only has the soft play area been spruced up but the seating area immediately outside had been refurbished to cater for children’s parties and toddler mornings throughout the week with a dance floor, a wall mounted TV screen, disco lights and mini tables and chairs.
The theme of the new play area is Dennis the Menace and not only did the kids identify the characters but my husband loved the height chart which noted the maximum height for entry to the play area and a note reading “you must Beano higher than this to enter.” Bravo Brewers Fayre!
After a little play time the kids were soon rounded up for their meals which we had each chosen the previous day. The kids both had beef burgers and they were really lovely looking – the burger itself was huge and looked handmade and the bun looked like a mini brioche style bun. It was served with chips and peas and was just the right size for my two. There’s a huge selection of meals on the kids menu so you’re bound to find something to suit your mini mes!
The staff were all really efficient, cheerful and seemed organised which is exactly what you need if you’re thinking of holding a party in a place like this. The plates were cleared quickly and it was soon time for Matt and I to eat along with all the other parents. Matt had a New York burger, again it was very impressive. I had the Smothered Chicken which was delicious – I particularly loved the Coleslaw. I noticed on the menu that the Smothered Chicken can be included in the two meals for £10.99 deal which I thought was excellent value.
The kids had a fab time, came away exhausted and all our bellies were full – what more could you want. We’ll definitely be back!
That play area looks amazing – all restaurants should have one! x
