Hello chummies and welcome back to my 34 week pregnancy update!
Since I posted my last update it’s been a bit of a rough week. I ended up calling the maternity triage unit last week as I had a day of painful cramps, strong braxton hicks, hot flushes, general weakness in my arms and legs and high blood pressure. The lady at the unit didn’t seem concerned and didn’t want to see me so although it didn’t help me feel any better it did relieve the worry a little and I spent the rest of the afternoon resting.
Yesterday (Tuesday) I visited the midwife for my 34 week appointment and baby had completely flipped 180 degrees – that would explain all the braxton hicks and cramping from the previous few days. Baby isn’t engaged yet but I have been experiencing more discharge than is normal for me during this pregnancy so I think my body is starting to get geared up for delivery. The midwife listened to the heartbeat and it was the usual 140bpm and kicking away. It’s crazy to think that I just have a 36 and 38 week midwife appointment left and then the next time I see her will be my due date appointment! Matt actually said last night, whilst watching One Born, that he’s getting really excited to meet the little bean now. I replied stating I’ve been excited since 9 weeks pregnant – this really hasn’t been an enjoyable pregnancy for me.
Now the weathers turning I am starting to think about my post partum body, my clothing and my fitness. We booked a week in Cornwall for the end of Summer a few days ago and I really want to be able to wear a swimming costume on the beach if the weather calls for it or even a pair of denim shorts. I’ve not been weighing myself but I will be straight on the scales for a wake up call after birth. I might leave it a week or two just so I don’t send myself into a proper depression! I reckon, by the end of the pregnancy, I will have stacked on about 2.5 stone. It feels like a lot but has really only made a dress size difference to me as most of it is baby, fluid and placenta! Have you ever seen a placenta? They’re huge! Don’t Google it if you have a sensitive disposition!
According to my pregnancy app baby is just about as developed as she’s going to get, all that remains is to stack the weight on. You and me both eh baby!
We’ve just about bought everything we need for baby now, the last crucial item is the monitor. I’ve had my eye on a particular one and I wanted to get it with a gift card I was given for John Lewis but annoyingly its out of stock and they can’t tell me when it will be back in stock. Thanks JL!
Since last weeks little wobble my symptoms have been pretty under control, although I do struggle with restless legs and often find myself scoffing a banana before bed to relieve it. It does actually work. Even if it is all in my head.
See you next week for another bump update (hopefully). If you missed week 33, catch it here.
Ooooh look at your bump! So exciting! Can’t believe how quickly it’s gone 🙂

Thanks 🙂 I think weeks 12-30 really drag but after 30 weeks it feels like you zoom towards full term! x
