It’s not that you don’t care. You’ve always cared and always will do. But, a lockdown does make you lose perspective. You want to highlight how much your partner means to you, but you can’t because the sound of them chewing loudly makes you want to bludgeon them to death!
Love under lockdown is challenging because you’re on top of each other all day and night with nowhere to go for relief. After a while, your lack of freedom and independence creep into your head, and you take it out on the person who means the most to you.
Thankfully, you can rewind the clock and remind them how essential they are with the following tactics.
Don’t Scroll And Talk
Technology is a big part of both your lives. While it does a lot of good, it does make you take your significant other for granted from time to time. You won’t realise it, but there is no better example than when you’re scrolling through your phone and simultaneously having a conversation. It shows that your attention is divided, and it can eat away at people if it continues. Sometimes, the most powerful way to highlight your feelings is to give them your full and undivided attention.
That means putting down the smartphone!
Send Cute Messages
You’ve split the house into sections, ones which you stick to religiously. After all, you need your space and absence makes the heart grow fonder. Still, there’s nothing wrong with communicating remotely, even if you are in the same house. A cute message asking them for a dinner date at lunch or tea time will make them smile as you’re going out of your way to connect. Nowadays, a message can be an emoji, such as a kiss or a heart icon.
As long as it catches them by surprise, it should have the desired effect.
Buy Them A Gift
How often do you buy each other presents? Typically, the gift-giving gets less intense as the lust wears away and the honeymoon period transforms into the reality of married life and living together. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you can’t snap up classic car artwork if your man is a petrolhead or a subscription for Sky Sports if he loves to watch football. In many ways, the present itself doesn’t matter too much because it’s the thought that counts.
If it’s genuine and full of love, you’ll easily get your message across.
Leave The House
The Coronavirus has turned the world upside down to the point where leaving your significant other alone is a form of affection. However, you shouldn’t underestimate the power of giving your partner their space. After all, you understand how vital it is to your mental health during the lockdown, so it makes sense that they also treasure “me” time. So, taking the day off work and making yourself scarce, along with the kids, could be the highlight of their day, and that’s not a bad sign!
A loving way to do it is to keep it a surprise and leave a note for them to find in the morning.
