Congratulations on finally realising that quitting smoking is what you want to do. There’s no need for anyone to tell you that “it’s about time”, etc, but you do need to think that this is a huge achievement – because it is. Getting to the point where you are happy to finally let go of a habit that has had you in its grip for so long is not an easy thing to get to – and yet here you are.   1. Write Down Why. Before you choose to quit, you need to have a focus on why you’re doing it. Why are you putting yourself through the withdrawal and the side effects if you don’t know why you’re doing it in the first place? Whatever it is that’s motivating you, make it a reason to stop smoking. You will be so much happier if you are going through the withdrawal process and you know what you’re doing it all for. If you’re health conscious, you’re going to realise the damage that smoking nicotine had in the body, and if you quit, you’re pulling yourself away from all of those risks!
  2. Have Patience With Yourself. You are not a failure if you can’t stick with it – success comes from a bunch of failures, and you may fall down while you are trying to sprint to the healthier finish line. Tobacco and nicotine are addictive substances, and you are used to it being in the body. Because of this, you will find that the withdrawal process is harder than you thought it would be. Be kind to yourself throughout this process and be patient with yourself, too. You can keep trying if you trip up – and it’s okay to trip. Just keep going.
  3. Replace It. Your hands and mouth have reached for cigarettes for goodness knows how long. You need to replace this habit with a brand new one. Some people swap to vaping without nicotine, and others choose to turn their hands to knitting to stay busy. You can replace a bad habit with a good one, and it would be a better option than effectively poisoning your body!
  4. Get Some Help. You do not have to quit smoking by yourself. The most important thing to remember is that you can rely on resources around you to help you to quit.
