My Christmas Picks from Smyths

Smyths Toys

Yesterday, during nap time, I was enjoying a hot coffee when the letterbox opened and I heard something drop through. It sounded heavier than usual so I went to see what it was. I tore open the envelope and there, staring at me, were three LOL Dolls, a unicorn and Lego Harry Potter!

The new Smyths Toys Catalogue had landed and I suddenly had the first thoughts about Christmas. I know, I know it’s only September but I like to go into November with a fairly clear idea of everything I’d like to buy for the kids. With four kids, of all different ages, to buy for it’s handy to have a shop like Smyths Toys where I know I can grab almost everything under the one roof.

Anyway, whilst the girls sleep today, I thought I’d share with you some of the bits I’ve found in the catalogue in case you’re looking for some inspiration for your own kids.  My girls like to cut the pictures out to make their Christmas lists so it doubles as a craft project too!

Florence is my 6 year old daughter and she is just so easy to buy for as she has a lot of interests, however, there’s always one thing that’s guaranteed to be at the top of her list and that’s LOL Dolls! If you haven’t seen them or heard of them what planet have you been living on for the past year or so? There are some exciting new products coming out in time for Christmas and I can’t wait to have a look through the catalogue with Florence…..when she sees the new LOL Surprise Dolls House her mind will be blown!

My eldest child, Logan, is 9 years old and is all about one thing….video gaming. Or watching people video gaming. I think he even wants to be a video gaming You Tuber when he’s older….if that’s even a thing. Anyway, I think he’d love a new game for his Nintendo Switch, which we actually bought from Smyths a few months ago.

Now for the two small ones…

Elsie is two years old and loves nothing more than getting in to her big sisters room and playing with her dolls house. So, with that in mind, I searched out a dolls house of her own and Smyths came up trumps.

Peppa Pig’s Family Home, £38.99

I think Elsie is probably still a little young for a proper dolls house or even Sylvanian Families but as we already have some of the Peppa characters I thought this Peppa Pig Family home might be a great present. Now she’s almost two and a half I can see her beginning to do a little more imaginative play and role playing with characters so I can just see her lying on her tummy and sending Peppa up to her bedroom or giving George a bath.

For Mabel, who’s just one, I think I’m going to get her some new bath toys; our current selection look like extras from a zombie film!

I saw this relatively inexpensive bath fun set by Playgro in the Smyths catalogue and thought it looked like good value….you get squirters, stacking cups, a rubber duck and a bath book. No doubt Elsie will commandeer it all once they’re in the bath but it’s a start I suppose!
