Elsie is One

And just like that, you turned one.

I am so very looking forward to the next year with you. The last year has been hard whilst I’ve been pregnant but I promise to make it all up to you. I will be able to pick you up for snuggles more and I will have the energy to whizz you around the playground.

You’ve amazed us. Your development has been quick and it feels as though you learn something new every time we put you to bed. You can walk unaided and have been since Mother’s Day. You sleep through the night (usually) and you have six little teeth.

Only during this last week you have learnt to clap but it’s now your favourite thing to do and makes you smile each and every time. You love a good sing song and watching your brother and sister prance around. Music makes you bounce up and down and you look so pleased with yourself.

Next week you start nursery. I think you’ve become a little bored at home and could do with making a few friends. I thought you’d be reluctant to join in but you wobble around on your feet like you’ve been there for months. You make me so proud when you exceed my expectations. Hopefully spending time away from me, don’t worry – it’s only a few hours a week, will make you a little less clingy as you hate strangers. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it would be great if you didn’t cry when a kind lady picks your sock up in Tesco and says hello to you.

You’ve only just learnt to be a little sister but you will soon be a big sister too. I think you and your little sister will be the best of friends. We have years of playing ahead of us. But please don’t teach her how to open my kitchen cupboards!

In so many ways you’re not my baby anymore but I’ll always be here for you when you need me…I might just need to change your sisters bum first!

p.s. get well soon as you’ve been poorly today but we still had lots of fun xx
